– = SMITE =-

A couple of months ago, I tested a new Moba game called SMITE. I’m no Moba player, never played LOL or similar games, but I thought I should give it a try to see how it works.

On the homepage, SMITE is described like this:

SMITE is the online battleground of the gods. Players choose from a diverse cast of deities and use their unique powers to triumph over the opposition in 5v5 team matches. SMITE is a new take on the MOBA genre, rather than observing from above the action, the game’s third person perspective puts players into the thick of combat. Instead of clicking the mouse to move, players use the familiar WASD keys to move and fight their way through SMITE’s dynamic battlegrounds

The gameplay is quite simple. You choose a God with the abilities you want to play with, and enters the arena. You move with the normal wasd keys, and use your four types of attacks. These are chosen with the numbers 1-4 (to choose the attack) and the mouse buttons (to activate the chosen attack). These attacks level up through the round your playing, together with your characters level in that round.

After playing it for some hours I get a feeling that SMITE is a Moba ‘light’ type of game, without having played any of its counterparts. Its fairly easy to get into for a newbie player, and you can get fairly good rather quickly (or so it seems to me 🙂 ) The game got several different map-types, and game modes and seems like a well made game. The different Gods in this game is well balanced and the variety is big with around 30-40 different types.

So, if your curious about the whole MOBA genre and want to get an intro to it, test out SMITE. Its quite fun to play, and I still play it from time to time, when I just want to ‘chill’ and do some havoc. 🙂
