Rayman is series of games I have never thought of testing for myself. I have seen the cover on different occasions and heard some vague talk about it through friends, but nothing that tickled my curiosity to play it myself.
Then, this weekend, Ubisoft was giving away 7 games for free (they got a jubilee this year, and have been giving away a game/month since June, and this weekend they had them all available on ‘Uplay’), and one of those games was ‘Rayman Origins’.
Note, I have never seen or tested any of the previous games in this series, so I had no clue what it was all about, but free is free, right? 🙂
This is a 2D platformer, and a very colorful one and you get that ‘disney’ feel when you start it up. All ‘fun, sun and good time’ feeling to it. The gameplay progress nicely from basic to a bit more advanced, but not harder than 99% of the players would be able to manage to keep up with the progression.
Colorful characters (you can unlock other chars with their own abilities along the way), very nice graphics and a good soundtrack sets the mood for hours of fun playing. I have not tested multiplayer yet, but you can play up to four characters at once (should be easy on a console, but not sure how this works on one keyboard?)
All in all, a nice game to spend some hours with if you are looking for a ‘chill-out’ type of platformer, and its like 3-4 euro’s on Uplay these days.
